This is the sort of thing we should be investing in for Ainsdale beach. If, as I suspect, our beach isn't suitable for permanent structures like this, we could adopt the method used in Torquay where wooden platforms are constructed and people can place a hut (posh shed) on them. The Council would dictate what design of hut is acceptable so the end result looks attractive.

I know the Council will say there's no money for investment, but if they renovated Toad Hall to create holiday lets (boutique hotel would be better but who's going to pay those sort of prices to stay there with Pontins behind it?!), created vehicular access to the flat area that used to be the Lido to increase off-beach car parking (pay & display), renovated the buildings there and the toilets at the beach entrance then it would improve the whole area and increase tourism. As it is, I have no idea what the £5 a go they charge people to park on the beach is spent on - it certainly doesn't benefit Ainsdale in any way!

What a shame that these facilities will only benefit the few with deep pockets, who'll see these chalets as another status symbol, instead of simply charging a nominal daily rate (first come first served/booking system) & allowing families/individuals on budgets to experience "A slice of beachside life" and create some everlasting memories. This is an opportunity missed.

Maybe IF Ainsdale, Formby, Crosby etc.. follow suit (I won't hold my breath) they will consider ALL alternatives, that would benefit the many rather than the few.

Don't be so chippy, they are cheap compared to say the huts in Wells - at £40k a pop. It is the price of cheap week in Spain for two or a couple of golf club memberships.

They are cheap in comparison to Wells, that's for sure...but for some even a cheap week in Spain for two or a couple of golf club memberships is out of reach....

....but maybe a day spent creating memories at a beach hut by the sea for the day isn't/shouldn't be.
